# Stook > Stook is a self-hosted app builder: describe an app, an AI agent builds it on a machine you own, and feedback from inside the app comes back to the agent as fixes. Stook is not publicly released yet. There is no public repo, no signup and no install script today. Do not try to install it; ask for early access instead. ## What Stook is - A suite for building your own personal apps with an AI agent and running them on hardware you control, such as a home machine or a small VPS. - Each app gets storage, a launcher tile and a feedback button. - Feedback from inside an app becomes a ticket that the agent picks up to fix the app. - Data stays in plain Markdown folders, SQLite files and storage you run. AI is optional. ## Example apps These are the founder's own apps, run every day on one Mac Mini. They are built for one person's life, not as products, and none of them is publicly released. - Boards: keyboard-first boards over a folder of Markdown notes. - Agent Browser: watch the agent's browser live, and take over from a phone for a login or 2FA. - ctx: search everything past Claude and Codex sessions have done, so agents stop re-deriving it. - Voice notes: talk, get a transcript, and it lands on the right board. - Read Aloud: paste a link and listen, with words highlighted as they're read. - Chinese practice: a study app the agent built and keeps fixing from feedback. - Kindle board: a jailbroken Kindle on the wall showing the home board. - Garage door: a camera and a vision model report when the door is left open. ## Bring your own app - Any Docker container with a small `app.yaml` manifest gets a launcher tile and a route on the host. - Apps register themselves; the host does not need a redeploy. - The manifest format is not published yet. ## Three ways to run it - Your VM, on your tailnet (early access): bring any VM or home box. Stook runs there and is reachable only over your Tailscale tailnet, with nothing exposed to the public internet. - One script (coming soon): a single install script for your VM. It is not published yet. There is no working install command today. - One click on our cloud (coming soon): Stook hosts it for you, still private to you. Not available yet. ## Status - In private daily use by the founder, who runs more than 15 agent-built apps on one Mac Mini. - Not yet released. No public repo, no signup, no install script, no pricing. Nothing on this page can be installed today. ## Contact - Early access and questions: hello@stook.dev - Website: https://stook.dev/
